<p>Day two of the NAIA National Championship Track and Field Meet at Gulf Shores, Alabama saw a couple all-American performances and Katie Bonnema qualifying for the finals in the 800 meters.
</p><p>Katie Bonnema (Senior; Ireton, Iowa) ran a 2:08.58 which was the second fastest in the prelims and qualifies for the finals on Saturday. The time established a new record for the Defenders.
</p><p> Later in the day the women's 4 x 800 of Kelsey Lewis (Freshman; Lachine, Michigan), Kayla Byl (Sophomore; Ireton, Iowa), Justine Van Zee (Freshman; Sioux Falls, South Dakota) and Lillie Koerner (Junior; Freeman, South Dakota)ran a 9:04.62 and placed second. British Columbia won the event in 8:53.55.
</p><p>The Dordt men's 4 x 800 followed that performance with a fourth place finish of 7:39.30 and was comprised of Sam Wensink (Freshman; Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin), Stephan McNamara (Sophomore; Chatham, Ontario) and Tim Bierma (Senior; Sioux Center, Iowa). Siena Heights finished just in front of the Defenders with a 7:37.99. The top two finishers ran the event between 7:31 and 7:32.
</p><p>Robyn Blount (Sophomore; St. Paul , Minnesota) ran a :15.24 in the 100 hurdles and will not advance to the finals.
</p><p>Christy Heidema (Senior; Ridgetown, Ontario)scratched on her first two attempts before recording a 36-10.25 performance in the triple jump and placed 16th.
</p><p>The women’s 4 x 400 ran the semifinals with Jasmin Schelhaas (Sophomore; Pella, Iowa), Marisa Broersma (Sophomore; Sunnyside, Washington), Robyn Blount (Sophomore; St. Paul, Minnesota) and Katie Bonnema (Senior; Ireton, Iowa) comprising the quartet and ran a 3:52.24 and will not qualify for the finals.
