<p>Two relay teams advanced to the finals on Friday and Lauren Opp earned All-American status on Thursday at the NAIA National Track and Field Championships at Gulf Shores, Alabama.
</p><p>Sarah Faber (Junior; Pella, Iowa), Marisa Broersma (Sophomore; Sunnyside, Washington), Jasmin Schelhaas (Sophomore; Pella, Iowa) and Robyn Blount (Sophomore; St. Paul, Minnesota) started the day in the 4 x 100 and ran a 48.29 in the prelims. The time was not fast enough to qualify for the finals of the event on Friday.
</p><p>Kelsey Lewis (Freshman; Lachine, Michigan), Kayla Byl (Sophomore; Ireton, Iowa), Justine Van Zee (Freshman; Sioux Falls, South Dakota) and Lillie Koerner (Junior; Freeman, South Dakota) comprised the 4 x 800 meter relay team that ran a 9:11.68, winning their heat and earning a spot in the finals on Friday. British Columbia had the fastest time in the prelims with an 8:56 and Biola was second in 9:04. Dordt was one of four teams to run the race in the 9:10-9:11 range. The finals will be Friday at 5:30.
</p><p>Sam Wensink (Freshman; Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin), Stephan McNamara (Sophomore; Chatham, Ontario), Tim Bierma (Senior; Sioux Center, Iowa) and Trent Kischer (Junior; Albert City, Iowa) placed second in their heat and qualified for the finals on Friday at 5:50 with a time of 7:36.80. Complete official times in the event were not readily available on Thursday night.
</p><p>Lauren Opp (Junior; Garner, Iowa) finished the day for the Defenders with a seventh place finish in 37:21.43 and earned NAIA All-American status in the 10,000. The winning time in the event was 35:58.82 and Opp was seven seconds out of sixth place in the 19 runner field.
