Dakota Wesleyan Invite
The Dordt College Defender women's golf team finds itself in a tie for fifth place at the Palace City Classic hosted by Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota after day one of the event. The 36 hole event is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
Dordt shot a 369 and is tied with Chadron State (North Dakota) after a day when Dakota Wesleyan put up a 316 and Northwestern a 326. Both teams had players shoot 77's to lead them and tied for the early medalist honors. Lauren Fitts went low for Dakota Wesleyan and Betsy Wallin for Northwestern.
Dordt's best finisher was Renae Visser with a day one total of 81 for eighth place and Kim Brumfield had an 89 for 20th. Meredith Fopma carded a 95 while Raeanne De Rousse and Brittany Claussen shot a 104 and 108 respectively on the par-72, 5,800 yard layout. 41 golfers are in the women's field.
