Dordt College won a 12-7 decision to sweep Nebraska Wesleyan in GPAC play on Saturday afternoon.<p>Dordt banged out 14 hits in the win and never trailed, securing a tie for eighth place in the GPAC standings and a berth in the post-season by virtue of the tiebreaker. <p>Dordt scored two in the first with Bethany Dykstra doubling in a run and Ashton Beaird had a run knocked in with a ground out.<p>Doane answered with a run in the second but Dordt had a three run answer as Dykstra doubled to clear the bases and knock in three runs. <p>Wesleyan rallied with four runs on four hits in teh third but the Defenders again had an answer as they plated two in the third. <p>Leading 7-5, the Defenders scored two runs on three hits for a 9-5 lead. The Prairie Wolves had a two run fifth inning to narrow the gap but the Defenders put the game away with a Samantha Dunn three run homerun for a the final of 12-7.<p>Dunn was the winning pitcher with six earned runs allowed and one walk with one strikeout. Dykstra was 3-4 at the plate with four runs batted in. Ashton Beaird, Michal Hoogland and Andrea Pierce all had two hits.<p>Dordt is 8-12 in the GPAC and 16-26 overall. Dordt will learn its GPAC assignment on Monday when the official bracket is released. Nebraska Wesleyan slips to 5-15 in the GPAC and 14-22 overall. Dordt is scheduled to host Dakota State on Tuesday to cap the regular season.
