The Dordt College softball team needed just four and half innings to sweep the College of Saint Mary Flames on Friday in non-conference action. Dordt took the 9-1 win with Samantha Dunn spinning a one hitter.<p>Dordt opened the scoring with a Bethany Dykstra two run homerun in the first inning and Samantha Dunn added a run scoring single in the frame. <p>Ashton Beaird slammed a homerun in the second inning to score two runs and Erica White had single that produced a run as well as Dordt raced to a 6-0 lead.<p>Dordt tacked on another run in the third with Jayden Smolders singling in Samantha Dunn. The Defenders finished their scoring with a Beaird single and Hoogland grounded out to produce a second run in the fourth inning. <p>The Flames got their first base runner of the game against Dunn in the top of the fifth as their lead off batter reached on an error and they got their first hit of the game with two outs, breaking up the no-hitter and the shutout. A ground out to shortstop finished the game by the eight run difference rule.<p>Dunn had three hits, a run scored and a run batted in. Beaird had two hits with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Bethany Dykstra had two hits with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Kassidy Van Voorst scored two runs in Dordt's 14th win of the season.<p>Dunn walked none and struck out four with one hit and one unearned run.
