The Doane Tigers won an 11-3 decision over Dordt in game one of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Crete, Nebraska. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Sioux Center, Iowa, but was moved to Crete due to snow covered fields on Saturday morning in Sioux Center.<p>
Doane scored one in the first and two in the second and effectively put the game out of reach with three in the third inning. <p>
Dordt scored two in the fourth inning without virtue of a hit. Jayden Smolders walked with the bases loaded and Ashton Beaird scored on a passed ball.<p>
The Defenders got to within 6-3 with Samantha Dunn singling in Selena Rinehart. Doane finished the game by virtue of the eight run difference rule as they scored five in the bottom of the sixth inning.<p>
Dordt was outhit 10-3 and committed three errors. Sidney Larsen started the game and was relieved in the first inning by Haley Fligge. Larsen was charged with the first run and took the loss. Fligge went five innings and allowed 10 runs on eight hits, four walks and struck out one.<p>
Bethany Dykstra, Michal Hoogland and Samantha Dunn each had singles for the Defenders.
