The Dordt Defender volleyball team won its third match in a row Thursday night as they beat Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa 3-1. Dordt won the first two sets in dominating fashion but dropped a tight set three before finishing the match off with a win in set four. <p>Dordt took set one 25-12,pulling away from a 5-4 lead to score seven points in a row, capping the run with a Kayla Broekhuis ace serve. Buena Vista got no closer than 14-9 as Dordt's Celaine Haan knocked three ace serves in during a six point run for the 13 point win.<p>Set two was equally lopsided with Dordt racing to a 9-2 lead as the Defenders put up a couple blocks during the run. Buena Vista fought back to within 14-11 but Dordt went on a nine point run to take firm control. <p>Buena Vista took the lead in set three 3-2 but Dordt seemed to take control with four of the next five points in establishing a 6-4 lead with Meghan Krausman and Brooke Wolterstorff putting kills down. A four point run by the hosts put them in front to stay. Dordt would fight back to tie the set at 11, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 20, but never got the lead back as the Beavers won 25-22 to force set four.<p>Dordt scored six of the seven points of what turned out to be the final set of the match and won 25-17. <p>Brooke Wolterstorff had 16 kills in the win and Elizabeth Kiel added nine. Jenna Horstman and Meghan Krausman each had nine kills as the Defenders hit for a .312 kill efficiency. Kayla Gesink put up 40 assists and had 20 digs while Kayla Broekhuis got to 28 digs. The Defenders scored ten points on ace serves and Celaine Haan spun six serves in for points.<p>Dordt is now 14-4 overall and 5-2 in the GPAC and will face Doane on Saturday, October 5. Buena Vista slips to 12-6 and 1-2 in the Iowa Conference.
