The Dordt College Defender volleyball team opened its season with a convincing 3-0 win over the Baker (Kansas) Wildcats on Friday afternoon at the Northwestern Red Raider Classic.
The Defenders took the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-17 and were led by Lindsey Floen with 10 kills while Jenna Horstman and Brooke Wolterstorff put down seven kills. Kayla Gesink put up 24 assists and got to 10 digs. Dordt was led in digs by Kayla Broekhuis and Jocelyn Bousema with 19 and 12 respectively.
Dordt had 33 kills in the match and hit for a .225 kill efficiency and they got to 59 digs.
"We got a great effort by our team this afternoon as we grew stronger in the match in every area. I'm pleased with our overall performance and execution as we start this season," said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.
Dordt is 1-0 while Baker is 0-1.
