A three goal afternoon by Brady Van Holland helped the Dordt Defender soccer team to a 7-1 win in Great Plains Athletic Conference men's play on Wednesday, October 30 in Yankton, South Dakota.
Dordt scored four goals in the first 20 minutes of the game with Eric Grootenboer starting the scoring in the fifth minute on an assist by Alex Durbin. Van Holland then scored back to back goals in the 14th and 16th minutes to take firm control of the game. Brady Van Holland then assisted his younger brother Cody on a goal in the 20th minute for a 4-0 halftime lead.
The goals kept coming for Dordt in the second half as Brady Van Holland scored in early in the 61st minute off a feed from Davi Baldussi-Alves and less than a minute later Baldussi-Alves assisted Derick Sackey. A Colin Middel goal in the 81st minute finished the scoring for the Defenders.
Mount Marty averted the shutout with a late goal by Genaro Bustillos.
Dordt outshot the hosts 21-17 overall and 18-7 on goal. Dordt's Joey Rasnic had five saves in goal and Dordt was credited with one team save. Mount Marty's Adan Garcia-Marquez had 10 saves.
The Defenders are 2-6-1 in the GPAC and 4-12-1 overall and will conclude the regular season with Nebraska Wesleyan in Sioux Center on Saturday, November 2.
