Dordt College got on the board first and led 1-0 after 48 minutes of play against the Calvin Knights but gave up 6 unanswered goals to fall 6-1 in their final outing at the Calvin Invitational. With the loss Dordt College falls to 0-2 on the year while the Knights move to 2-0.<p>
The Blades' Andrew De Young tallied the opening goal of the contest with 8:45 remaining in the first period off an assist from Dylan Van Dyk to give Dordt a 1-0 lead that they would take in to the intermission. The goal was De Young's first of the season while Van Dyk picks up his first point as a Dordt Blade.<p>
Dordt College maintained their 1 goal cushion heading in to the second intermission as neither team was able to find the back of the net in the middle session of play.<p>
Calvin was finally able to get the puck past Dordt netminder Riley Braun at 12:30 in the third period when Scott Plakmeyer netted a power play goal to tie the game at 1-1. Calvin's Brad Wojtaszak put Calvin up for good at 7:35 and 25 seconds later Brent Harris gave the Knights a 2 goal cushion.<p>
Calvin added goals at 5:55 (Plakmeyer), 5:04 (Wojtaszak) and 1:17 (Loney) to pick up the second win of their home invitational.<p>
Riley Braun had 32 saves in the loss for Dordt while Trevor Boardway picked up the win turning away 21 of Dordt's 22 shots.<p>
Dordt College will return to the ice for their home opener on Friday, October 19 at 7:30 pm in the Vernon Arena as they take on Kansas. The Blades will play Kansas a second time on Saturday, October 20 beginning at 4:15 pm. Both games are part of a large slate of activities scheduled for Dordt College's "Parent's Weekend".
