After skating to a scoreless tie after 20 minutes of play the Dordt Blades surrendered four goals in the second period before falling by a 6-3 final to the University of Nebraska. The Blades fall to 3-15 with the loss while Nebraska moves to 9-7-0-1.<p>
The Dordt Blades gave up three goals in less than a minute in the second period to fall behind 3-0. Zach Ross got the Huskers on the board first with a goal at 13:06 and thirty second later Cody Duncan made it a 2-0 hockey game. At 12:17 a marker from Alex Olson made it 3-0 and Nebraska extended their lead to 4-0 with another Cody Duncan goal at 3:50.<p>
The third period started out well for the Blades as they got on they picked up a tally less than two minutes in to the period as Jon Gesink scored his first goal of the year at 18:12 with helpers from Brandon Fast and Eric Walter. A power play goal at 11:48 by Eric Grootenboer in to the top right corner after a face off win by Brandon Fast made it a 4-2 game and put the Blades within striking distance. Eric Walter made it a 4-3 game at 9:57 with an assist from Mitch Ten Napel and had the Blades breathing down the neck of the Huskers.<p>
Goals at 7:32 and 5:11 by Nebraska's Mike Keogh and Andy Alpsteg put the game out of reach for the 6-3 final.<p>
Riley Braun had 28 saves in goal for the Blades while Jason Hughes has 17 saves for the Huskers.<p>
The Blades will face off against the Huskers again tomorrow in Fremont, Nebraska at 4:00 pm in the Sidner Ice Arena.
