The Dordt College women's basketball team lost a 66-62 decision to Jamestown (North Dakota) on Friday, November 2 to open the 2012-13 season. The Defenders outscored the Jimmies 39-32 but their comeback from 12 down in the second half came up just short.<p>Dordt trailed 34-23 at the half and Jamestown pushed the lead to 45-33 to start the half, getting up by 12 with 15:13 left in the game. <p>Dordt went on a seven point run to narrow the gap to 45-40. The lead was still five at 51-46 with 8:22 left in the game. Dordt did eventually cut the gap to 53-51 on a Brianna Spronk bucket and tied it on a Kara Van Dyke basket with 4:32 remaining. <p>Dordt gave up the next seven points and they never got closer than three down the stretch for the final of 66-62.<p>Dordt was led by Brianna Spronk with 16 points and Kara Van Dyke added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Dordt converted 23-57 shots for 40 percent and got outrebounded 42-35. Eleven different players scored for the Defenders. <p>Jamestown was paced by Carly Jensen with 17 points and Bridget Schuneman added 14 with nine rebounds. Hannah Steele had 14 points and made 11-14 free throws.<p>Dordt is 0-1 and will face Valley City State on Saturday while Jamestown improves to 3-0 and will face Northwestern on Saturday.
