Dordt College used two comebacks in sets one and two of its match with Mount Marty Tuesday night, October 16, to sweep the Lancers in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball play. <p>Dordt trailed in set one 17-14 before scoring four out of the next five points to tie the set at 18-18. The score was still tied at 19 when after the two teams exchanged points on errors by the opponent. Leading 20-19, Dordt leaned on Lindsey Floen and the junior delivered Dordt's next five points off of kills to trigger a 25-22 win. <p>Set two saw the Lancers in front 22-17 after a six point run and they were still ahead 23-18. A hitting error by the Lancers opened the door and Dordt went through it with Celaine Haan serving the next six points and Dordt won 25-23. <p>A five point run by the Defenders in set three vaulted them from a 14-14 tie to a 19-14 advantage and the Defenders went on to win it on a Danae Geels kill for the final of 25-22.<p>Floen led Dordt with ten kills and Geels had nine and Loy Sahr added seven. Kayla Gesink put up 31 assists and Kayla Broekhuis had nine digs.<p>Dordt is 19-7 overall and 9-1 in league play. The next action for Dordt is a non-conference tilt with Buena Vista on Friday night at home. The Defenders face Hastings on Saturday, October 16 starting with the junior varsity at 3:00 and the varsity at 4:30.
