A spirited effort by the Defender volleyball team wasn't enough as they fell to the visiting Doane Tigers on Saturday at the De Witt Gym. Dordt took set one 25-21 but dropped the next three sets 25-20, 25-18, 25-15.<p>Dordt never trailed in set one, extending the lead to 15-10 before Doane narrowed it to 20-19. The two teams traded service errors to make it 21-20. Danae Geels had a kill followed by winners by Kayla Gesink and Meghan Krausman for a 24-20 lead and Loy Sahr finished it with a kill for the 25-21 win.<p>Doane exerted their will in set two, holding the Defenders off down the stretch after taking a 23-17 lead and winning 25-20 with Emily Max knocking down the final kill. Max carried her team early when Susan Rollman and Ashley Axman were being held in check.<p>Doane opened a 9-2 lead in set three and Dordt never go closer than six the rest of the way falling 25-18 and set four was similar with Doane leading 12-3 early and winning 25-15.<p>Dordt hit .140 for the match with 16 kills by Danae Geels and 10 by Loy Sahr. Kayla Gesink put up 39 assists and had a team high 15 digs with two ace serves. <p>Doane was paced by Max with 15 kills and Susan Rollman had 14. Doane hit for a .295 kill efficiency and Miranda Wisehart had 41 assists.<p>Dordt will host Morningside on Wednesday night in GPAC play. Dordt and Doane are now both 5-1 in the league and Dordt is 15-4 overall. The loss snaps a seven match winning streak.
