Dordt College lost a 3-1 decision to Grace (Indiana) this morning at the Northwestern Classic in Orange City, Iowa. <p>
The Defenders lost set one 25-12 and also lost Katelyn Schuller midway through the first set. The outside hitter would not return.<p>Dordt battled in set two but lost ground at the midpoint and dropped the second set by a 25-19 margin. Dordt was able to bounce back in set three and earned a 25-19 victory but the Defenders couldn't keep the momentum going as they lost set four 25-20.<p>We played through some difficult situations in this match and I am pleased with our competitive spirit," said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson. <p>Dordt's Jasmyn Calkhoven was the team leader in kills with ten while Danae Geels and Loy Sahr each put down seven. Lindsey Floen accounted for eight kills with Kayla Gesink putting down five with 34 assists, 21 digs and she had two solo and one assisted block. Jana Van Zanten was good for three ace serves.<p>Jasmyn did a great job through the front row as she led us in kills and blocks," said Hanson. "Kayla Gesink created a spark for us on both sides of the ball with 34 assists and 21 digs."<p>Grace improves to 2-1 while Dordt falls to 2-1.
