Dordt College held a decided advantage in every category but the scoreboard in a 1-1 double overtime tie with Doane in Sioux Center in GPAC play Saturday afternoon.

Dordt got a goal in the 33rd minute of the game from Eric Grootenboer with Brady Van Holland assisting to make it 1-0. The goal came on one of six shots on goal Dordt had in the first half.

Doane hung around long enough, giving themselves a chance in the closing minutes of the game when Chris Watson knocked it over Jon Brinkerhoff in the 85th minute after a free kick from deep on the Doane end that got over the Dordt defense.

The teams played scoreless soccer the rest of regulation and the two overtime sessions for the 1-1 tie.

Dordt outshot the visitors 21-7 overall and 9-2 on goal. Jon Brinkerhoff had one save for Dordt in goal while Doane's Casey Clark had eight.

Dordt is 5-2-1 in the GPAC and 9-6-1 overall and Doane is 3-4-1 in the conference and 4-9-2 overall.

Dordt will host Morningside on Tuesday, October 23.
