A Brady Van Holland hat trick spearheaded the Dordt College Defenders to a 5-2 win over the Mount Marty Lancers in Great Plains Athletic Conference play Tuesday night.
The Defenders got a goal from Eric Grootenboer to start the scoring in the second minute. Van Holland then found the net fourth minute and again in the 37th minute off an assist by Scott Van Wylen.
Leading 3-0, the Defenders allowed a Mount Marty goal less than a minute later in the 38th minute and the teams went to halftime with the score at 3-1. Van Holland scored in the 52nd minute on free kick and Braden Graves ended the Dordt scoring with a goal in the 84th minute. Mount Marty made the final 5-2 in the 85th minute with a goal by James Elliott.
Dordt outshot the Lancers 10-4 on goal and Jon Brinkerhoff had two saves.
The Defenders are 2-2 in the league and 6-5 overall while Mount Marty falls to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the GPAC. Dordt will travel to Columbia (Missouri) on Saturday, October 6 for a non-conference game.
