Lucas Carls was masterful on the mound in helping Dordt to a 3-2 win over Marian (Wisconsin) on Thursday, March 15 in Mesa, Arizona.<p>The Defenders allowed two runs in the third inning on one hit and they stranded two baserunners when the frame ended.<p>Dordt got one run back in the fourth with Dustin Brisel scoring Nick Serrato with a single. Serrato had reached with a double to start the inning. Dordt left the bases loaded in the inning. Dordt tied the game in the top of the fifth when Travis Dekkers knocked in Nathan Fraley with a single. <p>Dordt got the winning run on an Aaron Parks sacrifice fly that pushed Dustin Brisel across. Brisel had doubled to lead off the inning and then advanced on an error on a ball hit by Dane Le Platt.<p>Marian left the tying run stranded at third in the top of the ninth.<p>
Nick Serrato and Dustin Brisel each had three hits with Serrato scoring one run and Dekkers getting credit for a run batted in. Dustin Brisel and Aaron Parks each had two hits as Dordt banged out 12 as a team.<p>
Carls pitched eight inning and allowed two runs on two hits with nine strikeouts and he walked seven. Jake Slings went the final inning for the save and walked one with one strikeout.<p>Dordt is 4-8 heading into play on Friday against Concordia (Wisconsin).
