Nebraska Wesleyan never trailed in dropping the Dordt Defenders 9-4 in game two of their doubleheader in Sioux Center.<p>The Prairie Wolves scored three in the third inning to take the lead for good. Dordt got one run back on three hits with Ashton Beaird knocking a run in with a single. Wesleyan got two more in the fourth for a 5-1 lead with Dordt responding with one run in the fourth on three errors.<p>
Wesleyan then built on the lead with three runs on two hits and two errors. Megan Huizenga then knocked a two run homerun in the fifth inning to make it 8-4 and Wesleyan scored one in the seventh for the final of 9-4.<p>
Ashton Beaird and Kacy Oberfoell each had two hits with Beaird getting two singles and Oberfoell had two doubles. Ashley Viet had a double and Huizenga had her homerun.<p>
Sidney Larsen took the loss while allowing five runs on seven hits. Brittany Kooiker went the final three innings and allowed four runs--one of them earned and struck out two. <p>Megan Cottier was the winning pitcher for Wesleyan and allowed four runs with nine hits and struck out five. Becky Bomberger had three hits and knocked in two and had a homerun for Wesleyan.<p>Dordt closed the regular season with a 10-10 GPAC mark and 20-22 overall. Nebraska Wesleyan is 14-20 overall and 8-10 in the GPAC with a doubleheader on Monday. <p>
The GPAC softball tournament is scheduled for May 3-5. The pairiings for the eight team field will be announced Monday night, April 30.
