A late inning comeback feel short in eight innings with Dordt colelge falling 3-2 to Nebraska Wesleyan in game one of the doubleheader in Sioux Center, Iowa. The game was played at an alternate site in Sioux Center with Open Space Park unavailable because of wet conditions.<p>Wesleyan got one in the first inning with Dordt striking back with a run in the third inning with Kaitlyn Lockhorst coming across on a double by Kacy Oberfoell. Lockhorst singled and moved up on a sacrifice bunt before scoring.<p>Wesleyan retook the lead with a run in the sixth for a 2-1 advantage. Lockhorst lined a drive over the fence in leftfield to tie it 2-2. Bethany Dykstra was hit by a pitch and and Ashton Beaird singled to put runners on first and second with no one out but the Defenders couldn't get the timely hit to forge the win.<p>Wesleyan got a homerun in the eighth by Becky Bomberger to retake the lead and won the 3-2 margin. Dordt did get the tying run as far as third in the eighth by Jocelyn Bousema was stranded when the game came to an end.<p>Dordt outhit Wesleyan 10-8 with Ashley Viet and Kaitlyn Lockhorst accounting for three hits each. Lockhorst scored both runs for the Defenders. Kacy Oberfoell struck out eight, walked one and allowed three runs on eight hits while going the distance. <p>Megan Tieken had three hits for Nebraska Wesleyan and Brenna Maguire got the win while allowing ten hits and struck out four.
