After the drama in game one of their doubleheader, the Dordt College Defenders won a 7-1 decision over Mount Marty in game two, scoring all of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings for their tenth in their last eleven outings.<p>
Mount Marty got the lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead. Dordt, limited to two hits in the first four innings of the game, finally broke through with three runs on four hits in the fifth. Paige Fynaardt doubled and eventually scored on an error and Kaitlyn Lockhorst doubled in Ashley Van Kooten and Shantelle Gritters. Four more runs came in the sixth to put the game out of reach with Haley Huisman's homerun getting two in. Mount Marty did get a run in during the seventh but that's where the scoring ended.<p>Dordt outhit the Lancers 10-6 with Lockhorst and Fynaardt both smacking two base hits. Sidney Larsen got the win while allowing one run on four hits and she struck out four. Brittany Kooiker got the save while working the final two frames and allowed two hits with two strikeouts.<p>Jena Peters took the loss while pitching five and third innings and allowed six runs on nine hits. <p>Dordt is now 6-2 in the 20 game GPAC schedule and will be off until Tuesday, April 10 when they host Northwestern. The Defenders are 16-14 overall. Mount Marty slides to 1-3 in the league and 2-20 overall.
