Northwestern used 11 runs in the final four innings to pull away from Dordt in game one of their doubleheader in Sioux Center on Wednesday night in GPAC play. A three run fourth inning pushed the visitors from up 3-2 to up 6-2 and they went on to win 14-2.<p>
Dordt got the first run of the game on a Dustin Brisel single that scored Jon Holwerda. Northwestern responded with a three run second when they took advantage of four hits.<p>Dordt's second run came in the third when Anthony Maule, running for Eric Torgerson, scored from third on a wild pitch. Dordt missed on a bigger inning when they left two runners stranded.<p>Northwestern gave their starter Taylor Morris room to work with three runs in the fourth inning on three hits and an errror and tacked on one more in the fifth and two more in the sixth. The final was stretched out when the visitors scored five in the top of the seventh on four hits and two errors, leaving the bases loaded.<p>Dordt was outhit 16-6 Nate Fraley going 2-3 with a run scored. Nick Serrato, Travis Dekkers, Dustin Brisel and Jason Wapnick all had one hit each. Ben Van Kekerix took the loss with nine runs allowed on 12 hits in six innings of work. Brad Trimm and Josh Van Kekerix split up the seventh inning with Trimm getting charged with five runs.<p>Morris was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and six hits scattered. Davis Bloemendaal led the Raiders with a 3-4 night at the plate with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
