Dordt College absorbed a 7-1 loss in game one of their doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in Mitchell, South Dakota. <p>Dordt got on the board with a run in the first when Travis Dekkers knocked in Nathan Fraley. The Defenders got runners to second and third with one out but a pair of strikeouts ended the threat.<p>Dakota Wesleyan scored two runs in the second inning and then a pair more in the third for a 4-1 lead. A run in the fourth and two in the fifth made the final 7-1.<p>Dordt's next best scoring opportunity came in the third inning when the Defenders loaded the bases with one out but came away empty.<p>Dordt was outhit 9-6 with Travis Dekkers going 2-3 at the plate and he got credit for the run batted in. Jake Slings took the loss in five innings of work with eight hits, three walks and five earned runs allowed out of the seven that the Tigers scored. <p>Max Shower had three hits and Nick Pecha allowed six hits for the pitching win.
