Mount Marty scored four runs in the top of the first inning and went on to win a 10-0 decision over the Dordt Defenders in baseball action Saturday afternoon, April 7 in Sioux Center. <p>The Lancers scored their runs in the first inning on four hits and an error and then tacked on one more run each in the second and third innings. A two run fourth and and fifth inning made it 10-0 and that's how it ended.<p>Dordt was limited to four hits, one of them a single by Travis Dekkers in the first inning that established Dekkers as the all-time hits leader at Dordt College with 156 base hits. Nathan Fraley, Mark Lyzenga and Jon Holwerda had the other base hits for Dordt--all of them singles.<p>Mount Marty had 14 hits off of four different Dordt College pitchers. Ben Van Kekerix took the loss after pitching four innings and allowed ten hits with six earned runs allowed, a walk and a strikeout. Mark Nyhoff pitched one and two-third innings and allowed three hits. Ryan De Wit a scoreless seventh and allowed one hit.<p>Hemeyer was the winner for Mount Marty with six strikeouts, one walk and four hits allowed. The first four batters in the Mount Marty lineup, Kemp, Nelson, Schmidt and Miller had nine of the 14 hits for the Lancers and they scored six runs.<p>Mount Marty is now 3-5 in the GPAC and Dordt is 1-7. Mount Marty stands 14-16 overall and Dordt is 10-19 heading into their next action, a doubleheader at Peru State on Wednesday, April 11.
