A ten run third inning for the Morningside Mustangs led to a 19-1 final in game two of the Dordt-Morningside baseball doubleheader at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday, April 5.<p>The Defenders got one run in the first inning when Nathan Fraley doubled, moved to third on a grounder to the right side of the infield and scored on a sacrifice fly by Travis Dekkers. <p>Morningside got one in the bottom of the first, three in the second and then erupted for ten runs on five hits and one error. Morningside also had three batters reach after getting hit by pitches in the inning. The Mustangs got five in the sixth to cap the scoring.<p>Dordt was outhit 17-4 with Nick Serrato, Nathan Fraley, Sam De Nooy and Josh Peterson all reaching safely. <p>Aaron Parks took the loss for the Defenders after allowing 13 runs in two and two-third innings. Brad Trimm pitched the final three and a third innings and allowed six runs--three of them earned and struck out one. Parks walked five and struck out three.<p>Morningside's Alex Groth got the win in two innings of work. AJ Staiert and Josh Gross both had five runs batted in for the Mustangs and John Sorenson had a grand slam.<p>Dordt is 9-18 overall and 0-6 in the league with a doubleheader on Saturday in Sioux Center against Mount Marty. Morningside improves to 5-1 and 25-12 overall.
