Dordt College lost an 8-2 decision to Morningside in game one of their doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in Sioux City. The Defenders surrendered four unearned runs along the way in dropping the GPAC contest at Lewis and Clark Park.<P> Morningside scored four runs on three hits in the second inning, taking advantage of a pair of Dordt College errors in the frame. The Mustangs got two more runs in the third inning with two more hits and two more Defender errors.<p>Dordt got on the board with two runs in the fourth inning as Travis Dekkers doubled to start the inning and Mark Lyzenga reached on an error. After a flyout and a ground out Aaron Parks doubled in the pair. Dordt mustered one more hit over the final three innings while Morningside got one run in during the fifth and one more in the sixth.
Travis Dekkers had a pair of hits to move his career total to 155 and ties him with Dillon Peters atop the all-time Dordt hits list. Aaron Parks and Eric Torgerson accounted for the other Dordt hits with Morningside's Jeff Gacke limiting the Defenders to four hits and he struck out six.<p>
Jake Slings took the loss for Dordt with eight hits allowed over four innings and he gave up six runs three bases on balls and one strikeout. John Drenten relieved and gave up two runs on two hits with a strikeout in two innings.<p>Morningside's Travis Hanson, Keaton Rowe and Adison Gillett all had two hits.
