The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost a 13-1, five inning decision to Peru State in game two of the doubleheader in Sioux Center, Iowa on Tuesday night.<p>Peru State scored nine runs in the first inning on five hits and five errors. Peru State then tacked on two in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth. <p>Dordt's lone run came in the bottom of the fourth when Dustin Brisel and Jon Holwerda had back to back singles with Brisel scoring on a fielder's choice off the bat of Zach Staudt.<p>Josh Van Kekerix took the loss in three innings of work and was charged with 12 runs--six of them earned and struck out two. Ryan De Wit came on in relief and pitched two innings and was charged with a run and a hit with one strikeout. Gustavo Arcia got the win with one run allowed in five innings and he struck out five batters. <p>Holwerda had a pair of singles for Dordt while Brisel, Josh Peterson and Travis Dekkers all had one hit each. Derek Voigt led the Peru State attack with three hits.<p>Peru State improves to 19-11 while Dordt slips to 9-16.
