Doane College scored early and often in a 23-6 win over the Dordt baseball team in game two of the doubleheader at Crete, Nebraska on Saturday, March 31.<p>
The Tigers scored two in the first and seven in the second, chasing Dordt starter Aaron Parks in the process. From there the Defenders allowed six in the third, five in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. <p>Dordt's first runs came on a three run homerun by Dane LePlatt in the third inning. The Defenders got one run each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. The run in the fifth came without a hit while Jon Holwerda knocked in a run with a double. Travis Dekkers plated the final run of the game for Dordt with a double.<p>Dordt is 0-4 in the GPAC play while Doane improves to 4-0. The Defenders will take a 9-19 record into their games with Mount Marty on Tuesday afternoon in Sioux Center. <p>Fraley and Holwerda had two hits each as Dordt was outhit 23-6. Tim Carlson improved his record to 6-0 this season for Doane on the mound with six inninngs of work and allowed five runs on four hits.
