The Doane College Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to fight off a loss and won a 6-4 decision in game one of their doubleheader with the Dordt Defenders in baseball play at Crete, Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. <p>Dordt took a 4-0 lead with four runs in the fifth inning with Eric Anderson scoring on a single that was misplayed off the bat of Eric Torgerson. Travis Dekkers knocked in two with a double in the inning and Nathan Fraley's double also scored a run. <p>Doane got on the board with a run in the home half of the sixth inning on a single with two outs. Doane then scored three in the bottom of the seventh, getting the tying run with two outs off of reliever Mark Nyhoff. Nyhoff entered the game with one out in the frame but couldn't hold the lead in relief of Jake Slings. <p>Tied at 4-4, the Defenders got the go ahead run as far as second base with two outs but couldn't get the run in. Doane ended the game in the eighth inning when Anthony Dunn homered after an error put the leadoff batter on and the Tigers had the dramatic win.<p>Dordt was outhit 9-8. Nate Fraley was 3-4 at the plate for Dordt College with a double and a run scored and a run batted in. Nick Serrato was 2-4 and Travis Dekkers had two runs batted in with a double.<p>Slings when the first six and a third innings on the mound and allowed two runs on five hits with no walks and no strikeouts. Nyhoff went two-thirds of an inning and was charged with four runs on five hits and took the loss.
