Dordt College lost a 4-0 decision to Hastings in game one of their doubleheader in Hastings, Nebraska on Friday afternoon, March 30. The teams were limited to two hits a piece with Hastings scoring in one run each in the first four frames for the 4-0 win in the conference opener for both teams.<p>Errors figured into the first two runs for the hosts with an unearned run coming across in each of the innings. Meanwhile, the Defenders were struggling to get runners on as they stranded two runners total, one in the first and one in the seventh inning. The Defenders did mount a threat in the final inning but a double play took away the scoring opportunity.<p>Dordt's Lucas Carls was the losing pitcher, allowing four runs on two hits with two earned runs charged. He walked three and struck out four. Travis Dekkers had a double for the Defenders and Dustin Brisel a single off of Hastings starter Kirby Wells. Wells walked two and struck out six in the win.
