The Dordt College Defender basketbal team erupted for 67 second half points on the way to a 110-67 win over Grace in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday night, November 8 in non-conference basketball.
Dordt held a 43-36 lead at halftime before limiting the Royals to 27 second half points. The Defenders got several second chance shots in the second half with 51 total rebounds, sweeping 21 offensive rebounds while limiting the hosts to 27 rebounds.
Dordt's Trevor Wolterstorff went for 19 points on a night when 14 out of 15 Dordt players scored. Jordan Vogel and Chris Sievers had 14 and 12 points respectively with Sievers converting 6-7 shots. Ben Sytsma came off the bench for 10 points while Tyler Wolterstorff and Nana Yaw Sapon-Amoah each had nine points.
TJ Malone and Kyle Lindbergh had five and four assists respectively. Vogel was the leading rebounder with six and Lindbergh grabbed five.
The Defenders converted 54 percent of their field goals including a 64 percent mark in the second half while the Grace Royals made 44 percent of their tries.
Grace's Jonathan Loutzenhiser had 19 points and five rebounds to lead the Royals.
The Defenders are 3-0 with three games coming up this weekend. Dordt travels to Oskaloosa, Iowa to face William Penn on Thursday night at 7:00 and will travel on to Chicago on Friday and Saturday for games against St. Xavier and Trinity at at classic hosted by Trinity Christian.
