Dakota Wesleyan beat Dordt College in Great Plains Athletic Conference football action by a 58-10 count in Sioux Center on Saturday afternoon, October 8.<p>
The Defenders surrendred two big plays in the first quarter and those resulted in scores for the visitors. The first was a 31 yard pass from Jon Bande to Nate Ovenden for a score at the 9:41 mark. The next was a 54 yard pass from Bane to Euedel Clayton with 3:40 left in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead. <p>Everything broke loose in the second quarter for the visitors as they scored on drives of 44 and 73 yards with Josh Endres taking it over from one yard out on both drives for 28-0 lead. Roscoe Lee broke free for a 70 yard punt return with 6:08 left in the half for a 35-0 lead and Endres scored on a third one yard plunge with 1:14 left in the half to cap an eight play, 87 yard drive.<p>Wesleyan scored on the first possession of the second half, going 80 yards on six plays for a 49-0 lead. Dordt got on the board after a short punt and Barry Dykstra kicked a 40 yard field goal with 2:06 left in the third. <p>A safety on a Craig Henglefelt sack of Justin Knot in the fourth quarter followed by a six play, 50 yard drive made it 58-3 with Dordt getting a touchdown from Trai Pickney with 4:55 left in the game to make it a final of 58-10. Knot found Pickney for a short pass that the freshman running back turned into a 15 yard touchdown catch and run.<p>Dordt was outgained 531-98. The Defenders got 16 yards rushing out of Daniel Fennig and Justin Knot completed 6-9 passes for 82 yards. Sam Ver Hulst caught five passes for 26 yards and Daniel Fennig caught four for 11 yards. Sam Du Mez was limited to three catches for 38 yards. <p>Josh Endres ran for 65 yards for the Tigers and Jon Bane completed 13-21 passes for 319 yards with Euedel Clatyon and Josh Endres catching four and three passes respectively for 128 and 115 yards each.<p>Austin Bosma and Todd Green each had five solo tackles and Green had three tackles for loss and two sacks. Jon Luetchens had n interception while Erin Francis and James Rowehorst each had four solo tackles.<p>Dordt is 0-5 in the conference and 1-5 overall while the #16 ranked Tigers are 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Defenders will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to face Nebraska Wesleyan next Saturday, October 15.<p>
