Showers To Attend Dordt College

(Tuesday, May 27; Sioux Center, Iowa) Heather Showers, a senior at Bennington High School (Nebraska), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball and track programs.

Showers had a .246 kill efficiency as a senior and averaged 7.03 kill per match and 4.14 digs.  She totaled 24 ace serves and was in on 115 blocks.  A 5-11 middle blocker, Showers also played for Impact Volleyball.  She earned Class B All-State Honorable Mention honors and claimed All-Academic honors from the conference and state.  She medaled at the state meet in the high jump.

“Heather’s talent and explosiveness along the net will be a wonderful addition to our current blend of athletes.  She brings a wonderful background of experiences from her Nebraska Impact club coach Bo Yong as well as her Bennington High School coach Jodi Bierman.  We are pleased that she has chosen Dordt College and are eager to have her join us on campus in just a few months for our preseason,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.”

Heather is the daughter of Ron and Sandi Showers of Bennington, Nebraska.  She plans to study pre-medicine at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
