Basketball Adds Van Lingen

(Tuesday, April 15; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Bethany Van Lingen, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Van Lingen played for three straight state title teams at Western and appeared in 28 games this winter while converting 49 percent of her field goal attempts.  She grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game and had one steal per contest.  Van Lingen is a 5-10 forward.

“Bethany had a lot of success in high school, understands how to play fast and will be able to pick up on things quickly.  We’re excited toad a person to the program who has a good attitude and is a great student,” said Dordt College coach Craig Stiemsma.

Bethany is the daughter of Jeff and Nancy Van Lingen of Sioux Center, Iowa.  She plans to study education at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
