Dordt Men's Basketball No. 6 In Poll

(Wednesday, February 26; Sioux Center, Iowa)   The Dordt College Defender men’s basketball team is no. 6 in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll released Tuesday, February 25.

The Defenders concluded the regular season with a 26-4 record and a 17-3 GPAC record, winning the regular season conference title for the second time in three years.  Dordt opens GPAC Tournament play in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, February 26 against Northwestern. 

Dordt is one of three GPAC teams in the poll with Midland holding at no. 8 with a 26-4 mark and Morningside has moved to no. 15 with a 22-8 overall record.  Midland and Morningside tied for second in the GPAC standings and Morningside is the no. 2 seed in the GPAC Tournament.

Dordt had 324 points in the polling while Cornerstone (Michigan) fell two spots as well to no. 5 and has 328 points.  Indiana Wesleyan moved into the no. 4 spot with 333 points.  Cardinal Stritch (Wisconsin) is the no. 1 team for the sixth week in a row and had 12 of 14 first place votes and 373 points total.

The final coaches’ poll will be released Wednesday, March 5.
