Dordt Volleyball No. 11 In Postseason Poll

December 12, 2013

(Thursday, December 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team moved four spots in the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Postseason Poll released late Wednesday, December 11.

The Defenders, who finished the season with a 25-9 mark and earned a spot in the single elimination portion of the NAIA National Volleyball Championship last week, moved to no. 11 in the voting done by 21 coaches across the country.

“Our program has experienced some neat successes that are reflective of the incredible commitment by our student-athletes in selfless time and energy toward common goals.  Two primary goals that we feel great about accomplishing are making it to Sioux City for the NAIA National Championships and competing well enough to make it out of pool play into the final round of 12 teams.  To be honored and recognized by the NAIA Coaches’ Poll as the no. 11 team in the country is a great way to wrap up this 2013 season,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.”

Dordt had 396 points in the polling and was eight points out of a spot in the top-10.  Texas at Brownsville was the unanimous no. 1 selection after winning the national title and posting a 37-0 record.  Fellow GPAC members Midland and Northwestern were no. 7 and no. 9 respectively.
