US News Best Colleges 2010

Dordt College has once again received a top ten ranking for both quality and affordability in U.S. News and World Report’s (USN&WR) 2010 America’s Best Colleges rankings.

Dordt placed fourth on the Midwest region’s Best Baccalaureate Colleges list, sharing the position with Northwestern College in Orange City. This marks the 18th year in a row that Dordt has been on the list and the sixth time that the college has placed in the top 10.

Dordt College was also named to the “Great Schools, Great Prices” list for the third consecutive year, earning eighth place on the Midwest region list. For this ranking, USN&WR compares academic quality to cost of attendance; “The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal” according to USN&WR. Dordt was the only Iowa college to earn a spot on this year’s list.

“It’s our goal to make a Christian college experience available to anyone who desires a top- quality, faith-based, affordable education as they prepare to take their place in God’s world,” said Dordt’s president, Dr. Carl E. Zylstra. “We are honored that these 2010 rankings recognize that commitment.”

The Midwest Baccalaureate Colleges category includes 94 schools in twelve states, from Kansas to Ohio, that focus on undergraduate education in liberal arts and professional fields such as business, nursing, and education. The colleges are ranked on such factors as freshmen retention rates, graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratios, and alumni giving rates.

Dordt College offers a quality Christian college education to over 1300 students from more than 30 states and 20 foreign countries in 90 programs of study. To learn more about Dordt College visit or call 1-800-343-6738.
