Coaching Background

Mel Knobloch was named dance team head coach in April of 2015. Knobloch is in her first year as head coach at Dordt and has spent the previous 10 years coaching the Unity Christian High School dance team. Knobloch's teams at Unity have won Division I rankings at state for 10 years straight, and twice in the last four years they have earned Judge's Choice Awards. Knobloch also currently serves as full-time dance and fitness instructor at Robin's School of Dance in Sioux Center, Iowa, and has been teaching there since 2004.

Philosophy

A group of Christian women working together to build relationships with God and others, using creative movements to be an example to those who see them.

At Dordt

Under the direction of Knobloch, Dordt dance team is scheduled to have 12 public performances this year in conjunction with home football and basketball games, and the team will also compete at the ISDTA Competition in early December and the GPAC Invitational on Saturday, February 13.

Academic

Knobloch graduated from Dordt College with a double major in physical education and recreation in 2009.

She is certified by Dance Educators of America to teach classical ballet, tap dance, classical/contemporary jazz dance, modern dance, and theatrical acrobatics.

She is also certified by Zumba to teach Basic 1 and 2.

Family

Mel Knobloch and her husband, Tyler Knobloch, have a two year old daughter named Taryn, and they are expecting their second child right at the beginning of September, 2015.
