Ryan Gresse enters his third season as head men's soccer coach after being named to the position in December 2018.
Gresse came to Dordt as an assistant in 2018 after spending two seasons as the head coach of Indian Lake High School (Ohio). During his time at Indian Lake, Gresse led the Lakers to a first round upset against the no. 2 seed in the OHSAA State Tournament and a second-place finish in the Mad River Division of the Central Buckeye Conference.
Prior to coaching at Indian Lake Gresse worked for the Warrior Soccer Club and Shawnee High School. Gresse has also served with summer camps involving Sporting Kansas City Youth and Miracle Ministries based out of Kadali, India.
My goal is to develop student-athletes spiritually, relationally, academically and athletically, resulting in lifelong relationships with their teammates and coaches. This means student-athletes will experience the Defender Way by understanding their role and impact in the Great Commission, what it means to be a servant-leader and what commitment to pursuing excellence in academics and championships looks like. When players graduate from this program, I desire them to be equipped to live for Christ in their world beyond college.
Gresse competed three years at Urbana University where he was an outside back and midfielder for the Blue Knight program before he began coaching his senior year. A native of Springfield, Ohio, Gresse played soccer and graduated from Shawnee High School. Gresse is working toward his National Diploma through United Soccer Coaches.
