COACHING EXPERIENCE

Coach Morgan joins the Men’s Ice Hockey coaching staff in the fall of 2019.

For the past two seasons he has been the Head Coach of the Sioux Falls Flyers Varsity hockey team. Over the past two seasons the Flyers were led to back to back overall league championships, back to back state title games in 2018 and 2019, and a state championship in 2019. Prior to coaching in Sioux Falls, he spent time coaching the Windom Area Eagles Varsity program during the 2015-2016 season. He also spent a season in Alaska coaching Varsity and U-18 hockey, and two years in Idaho as a Varsity head coach as well. He coached in the 2015 USA Hockey National tournament with the Anchorage North Stars, as well as the 2018 USA Hockey National Tournament with the Sioux Falls Flyers, finishing in the top 5 each time.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

I love the prospect of being able to weave my faith into my coaching freely. I am excited about the challenge of helping young men grow as hockey players, but more importantly as future husbands and fathers. The challenge of turning around the Dordt hockey program, with a rich tradition, and many proud alumni, is a large task, but one that I am willing to take head on. I am confident that if we can grow our recruiting and bring in young men who are willing to do things the Defender Way, on ice success will simply be a byproduct of the growth we see off the ice.

FAMILY

Coach Morgan currently resides in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with his wife Dana and his two sons, Brantley and Brooks.
