Assistant Football Coach
Coach Newton comes to Dordt after graduating from Greenville College in May of 2016. While at Greenville, Newton played four seasons and was a three-year starter for the Panthers. He was a member of their 2012 conference champion and NCCAA Victory Bowl Championship team. He also played a role in Greenville’s 2013 Victory Bowl appearance, where Greenville finished with a school record nine wins and one loss. He was a team captain, Servant Leadership Council Member, and Terminator Club member.
During his time at Greenville, Newton introduced himself to collegiate coaching by volunteering to lead teammates in film sessions and aiding coaches in film breakdown. He assisted in recruiting efforts, hosting multiple events on campus, and directed student workers during JV games. Newton also spent time with Middleville Youth Football as an Assistant Head Coach, spending time designing playbooks, practice plans, and conditioning programs focused on developing young athletes.
