I am blessed to serve this program and mentor these players to glorify God with their gifts and talents. My mission is to equip each player with the tools to make an eternal impact. By developing servant leaders, embracing a growth mindset, and pursuing daily excellence, I believe we will be successful in equipping players to be impactful on the baseball field, in the workplace, and in the Kingdom of God.

Coaching background

Coach Roose is entering his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Dordt University baseball program. In his time at Dordt, he has been the hitting coach (2018 – 2020) and pitching coach (2020 – present), along with serving in many different aspects of the program.

In the 2020 - 2021 season, Roose took over as the pitching coach. Dordt finished with a record of 16-30 and the third-most wins in school history. The pitching staff finished the season with 326 strikeouts and broke the Dordt record for most team strikeouts in a season. Junior pitcher, Gyeongju Kim finished the season with 99 strikeouts, breaking the Dordt season strikeout record.

While at Dordt, Coach Roose has coached multiple post-season award honorees. He has coached one 1st Team All-GPAC, one GPAC Gold Glove, and five GPAC honorable mentions. Roose has also coached a few records, including:

In addition, Coach Roose starts his fourth year (2019 - present) as the head baseball coach at Western Christian High School where he administers the 5th & 6th, middle school, freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity baseball programs. Under his leadership, the program has shown continued development and success.

Playing Experience

Coach Roose played baseball for North Iowa Area Community College in 2014 and helped advance the team to the Junior College World Series. He transferred to Dordt in 2015 where he was a three-year starter and earned all-GPAC honors. Roose helped Dordt to two of the best seasons in program history.
