 ## Overview

This experience is designed to glorify God through song and represent the vision and values of Dordt University abroad. It will also seek to provide exciting and enriching opportunities to Dordt Concert Choir alumni participants: reconnect with each other and continue the blessing of community and camaraderie that they experienced when they were at Dordt, perform beautiful choral music in several incredible historic venues in the Netherlands and Germany, and do some sight-seeing.

## More Details

### Qualifications

Singers who would like to participate must:

1. Be a Dordt Concert Choir alum who graduated (or will graduate) from Dordt between the years of 1990 and 2025.
2. Be a reasonably active singer who participates regularly in some form of choir or ensemble singing (professional choir, community choir, chamber choir, church choir, church praise team).
3. Be willing to submit an audition recording of your voice (details below).

### Acceptance

The primary musical and structural goals of the Dordt University choral department for this opportunity are to include as many singers as possible while also ensuring a strong, balanced, and well-blended ensemble sound. Thus, if the ensemble or a particular voice part need to be limited in order to achieve those goals, the following considerations will be used to determine acceptance or possible placement on a waiting list:

1. Balance of the ensemble (a reasonably equal number of all four voice parts)
2. Strength of audition (evidence of reasonably strong singing proficiency)
3. The order in which commitments (deposits) are received

### Audition

Prospective singers will be asked to email links of one or more unlisted YouTube videos to <Ryan.Smit@dordt.edu>. These videos should contain:

1. Two scales (on sol fege, numbers, or “la la”) that demonstrate the lowest and highest parts of your range.
2. An accompanied song (aria, art song, folk song, or hymn) of at least 2 minutes in length that demonstrates the strengths and capabilities of your voice.
