Online Form Instructions

The Supplemental Data Form (SDF) may be used to supplement the information provided in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The SDF is designed to gather information that is not captured in the FAFSA. It serves as an opportunity for students and their families to share any unique or special circumstances that have impacted them financially and, in their current ability tofinance the cost of higher education.

  • The FAFSA may be completed online. It opened on October 1, 2025 for the 26-27 academic year.
  • The SDF may be completed online, or you may print the form and submit it via fax, email, or by mailing it to the address at the bottom of the pdf.

A financial aid offer will be prepared after all necessary information has been received.

Apply on Time

The 2026-2027 FAFSA is available online, and will require students and parents to provide 2024 tax information. FAFSA filers will also be required to provide consent to use the Direct Data Exchange which will transmit tax data directly from the IRS. This information will not appear on your FAFSA but will be transmitted to the school(s) you select to receive your completed FAFSA.

Students are encouraged to submit the FAFSA when it becomes available. Iowa residents are reminded that the FAFSA must be submitted by June 30, 2026 to be considered for the Iowa Tuition Grant.

Students and their families are invited to submit the SDF at any time; however, it is encouraged that it be completed prior to the preparation of your financial aid offer. If you should experience a significant change in your financial situation after your aid offer has been prepared, please feel free to contact the Dordt University Financial Aid office directly.

SECTION C: REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Sometimes families have special circumstances which substantially impact their ability to contribute towards education expenses. Two of the most common special circumstances at Dordt University are tuition expenses to be paid for other family members for private education, and excessive medical/dental expenses. Occasionally other factors may affect the family’s contribution, such as: a significant reduction in parent income for the upcoming year, other non-discretionary expenses not mentioned on the form, a higher cost of living than the national average, a significant debt not reported on the form, or a natural disaster. (Special circumstances refer to something unique to your family.)

If you would like to request consideration for special circumstances, please complete the appropriate items below. It is strongly recommended that you complete the K-12 question if the family pays tuition for younger children at a Christian school.

Please indicate the total tuition expense your family will pay for the 2026-27 school year for siblings in private K-12 education. This figure should represent the tuition expense that will be paid by the family, not covered by an Educational Savings Account (ESA) or any other state funded program (voucher, etc.)

College/University

If your family has other children that will also be enrolled in a college or university during the 2026/27 school year, please indicate the name of the school they will be attending and their remaining cost of attendance after all grants and scholarships are applied to their account. You may choose to report their 2025/26 education costs if 2026/27 costs are not yet available, and they will be enrolled at the same school in the upcoming academic year. It is not necessary to report this information for siblings enrolled at Dordt University.

There is an allowance built into the FAFSA for these types of expenses based on family size, etc.; however, if you have experienced significant health-related expenses, please feel free to indication your actual out of pocket medical expenses, including premiums, for the 2025 calendar year.

Please detail giving specific dollar amounts, timelines, etc. and explain in paragraph form any unusual situations.

By completing the box/boxes below and submitting this form I/we certify that all information is correct and complete:
