Doctors of Optometry are the major providers of vision care in this country. As primary health care providers, they examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the eyes and the entire visual system. They work with other health care professionals, including ophthalmologists, to manage a patient's care.
Most optometry schools require:
- Four years of college.
- Passing the Optometry Admission Test.
Particular requirements can vary, so you will need to contact the optometry school of your choice early in your college career to plan your program. Chemistry professor Dr. Darren Stoub will work closely with you to plan your program. His email address is Darren.Stoub@dordt.edu and campus visits are welcomed.
