In order to safely and conveniently accommodate the lifting, moving, and storage of lab equipment and materials in the engineering department's high bay lab, this team analyzed aspects of the building structure and then designed two separate lift systems for integration into the existing lab space. The trolley hoist system that has now been installed includes an S8 x 18.4 main beam with a 19 foot span at an height of 12.5 feet, with a load capacity of 4000-lb. A separate 250-lb capacity pallet lift system was also designed (for future installation) to safely lift lighter loads to an elevated storage shelf in the lab.
