In digital television transmission systems there is a need to monitor, switch, and correct errors in the digital signal path. In a project sponsored by Sencore, Inc. (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), the Dordt student team developed a 8VSB/QAM tuner-demodulator option card for use in such applications. The card was designed to maintain functionality of a previous version of the card that had reached the end of its production life, while improving input sensitivity and programmability for use in additional Sencore products. The project work focused on the hardware design and the printed circuit board layout for the card. The prototype boards then were tested by Sencore engineers in preparation for production release.
