 ## Program Overview

Designed for educators of all types, the M.Ed. program will help you take your classroom and leadership abilities to the next level with immediately applicable skills and resources relevant to your specific challenges. Equipping you with relevant knowledge and perspectives in your chosen specialization, you will be able to confidently enhance your classroom or administrative work.

The program can be completed in two years. A typical plan of study includes one course every fall semester and spring semester and three courses every summer for two full years. A slower pace can reduce summer work to two courses in each of three summers. The [School Leadership](https://www.dordt.edu/academics/programs/master-of-education/school-leadership) and [Teacher Leadership](https://www.dordt.edu/academics/programs/master-of-education/teacher-leadership) specializations offer an accelerated option that can be finished in as little as 14 months. All of our courses are 100% online. No travel or on-campus residency is required.

### What You'll Learn

The Master of Education program prepares graduate students for teaching and administrative service in diverse settings, equipping them with Christ-centered reflective and transformative skills, knowledge, and dispositions for teaching, learning, and leading.

*The [School Leadership](https://www.dordt.edu/academics/programs/master-of-education/school-leadership) track leads to the Initial Administrator license in the State of Iowa. The Initial Administrator license also transfers easily to many other states.*

 ### Accreditation

The grade point average in graduate course work of the student needs to be at least 3.0 before the conditional admission status can be changed to regular admission status.

##### Special Admission

Special admission may be granted to those who do not plan to become candidates for a master’s program but wish to participate in one or more graduate courses. Admission may be granted by providing the following:

- A completed application for program admission.
- A transcript of all undergraduate and graduate credit received.

### Transfer of Credit
