I am in my tenth year of teaching in the Education Department here at Dordt College. I previously taught future teachers in the Education Department at Northwestern College in Orange City for 13 years. Prior to that I taught grades 3 and 4 at Inwood Christian and Orange City Christian schools for 12 years.

I am a 1980 graduate of Dordt and have attended many colleges and universities since then. I earned my Master of Education degree in elementary education at the University of Sioux Falls and my Doctor of Education at the University of Northern Iowa, specializing in curriculum and instruction.

I teach several courses in the Education Department: EDUC 201 Planning, Instruction, & Assessment; EDUC 331 Social Studies Methods, EDUC 155 Literature for Children & Adolescents.   I serve as the department liaison with Sioux Center Christian and supervise our professional development school interns who are working there.  I serve as the recruiter for the Education Department and meet with most of the prospective students who visit campus.

I live in Orange City with my wife, Kim, who teaches preschool at Orange City Christian (Covenant Kids Preschool).
