Joining the department of art and design in 2001, David Versluis taught graphic design and art courses and directed the Campus Center Art Gallery. He retired from teaching in 2019 and moved to Michigan but continued to serve as curator of the Dordt University Permanent Art Collection until 2020. Versluis's significant contributions in displaying visual art on Dordt's campus were recognized when he received the faculty/administration 2019 Noteworthy Scholarship and Service award.
Versluis is actively producing drawings, prints, and sculpture. He participates in curated exhibitions, internationally, nationally, and regionally; his works have recently been selected for the 2022 Evolving Graphic Design exhibition, Art Loft Building Galleries, University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Colorful Language group exhibition, Addington Gallery, Chicago.
Nature/creation continue to be inspirational (Psalm 19). Versluis is a member of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) and chairs the art committee at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
